Created in 2006, formerly under the banner of Humanitarian Affairs, Civil Affairs section is considered the essential partner for local grassroots community interaction by the Mission and our partners. With 17 offices and 192 staff spread across the DRC, we constitute one of the largest Civil Affairs sections of any other UN Department of Peace Keeping Operations (DPKO) mission.

Our work spans from protection of civilians, to conflict resolution, to restoring state authority and to supporting development of a robust and respected civil society within the DRC.
